Every day we need to make wise decisions and solve complicated problems. We also have to manage our self well so that we can deal with others in order to get things done. In addition, we have to face the challenges of ups and downs in life. We need the three pillars of IQ, EQ and AQ to excel.

Intelligence Quotient

An intelligence quotient is an attempt to measure a person‘s intelligence. According to the International High IQ Society, a high IQ is an advantage in life because virtually all activities require some reasoning and decision-making. Conversely, a low IQ is often a disadvantage, especially in disorganized environments. Of course, a high IQ no more guarantees success than a low IQ guarantees failure in life. There are many exceptions, but the odds for success in our society greatly favor individuals with higher IQs.

Emotional Quotient

According to Daniel Goleman, author of the best-selling book, Emotional Intelligence, emotional quotient means:

Self-awareness: The ability to recognize and understand your moods, emotions, and drives, as well as their effect on others.

Self-regulations: The ability to control or redirect disruptive impulses and moods
(The propensity to suspend judgment- to think before acting)

Motivation: A passion to work for reasons that go beyond money or status
(A propensity to pursue goals with energy and persistence)

Empathy: The ability to understand the emotional makeup of other people
(Skill in treating people according to their emotional reactions)

Social skills: Proficiency in managing relationships and building networks (an ability to find common ground and build rapport)

Adversity Quotient

Dr. Paul Stoltz, the originator of AQ, founder and CEO of Peak Learning, defines Adversity Quotient as “the capacity of the person to deal with the adversities of his life. As such, it is the science of human resilience.” A person high in AQ means he is able to deal with problems quickly and effectively.

The 3 pillars of success

The threes skills of an effective executive, according to Robert L Katz in his famous article, Skills of an Effective Administrator, are:

Technical skill
Human skill
Conceptual skill

To me, IQ is likened to be technical skill, EQ is human skill and AQ is similar to conceptual skill.

While IQ is your area of expertise, EQ is you ability to manage yourself and others effectively. AQ is the ability of a person to bounce back in the face of failures and setbacks. He will review the whole situation and come up with an action plan and move on from there. The person may be down, but he is not out.

IQ, EQ and AQ are truly the three pillars of lasting success.

Belief: Have full confidence in yourselfYou believe you can do it and be successful

Calm: You are not disturbed. You feel at ease and collected.

Delightful: Listening to a piece of soothing music or reading an inspirational article gives me a delightful feeling

Enthusiastic: I look forward to each new day with excitement and high hope

Forgiving: Don’t fill your heart with grudges against others. Forgive and forget and you will feel peaceful and calm inside your heart.

Good-natured: Be kind, be friendly and be good to others and treat yourself just the same.

Happy: Happiness is contagiousWhen you are happy you are also spreading happiness to the people around you.

Inspired: I am inspired by great articles on the Net and they inspire me to do the same

Joyful: Be joyous, be cheerful. You can make a choice. You can also feel down and out. However, life is short and unpredictable so just be merry.

Kind: Kindness begets kindness. Random acts of kindness bring cheers to others and satisfaction to yourself.

Loving: Love yourself, love your family and fill the world with love as it is filed with hatred and vengeance.

Neat: When your house is clean and tidy, the neatness vibrates a feeling of serenity in you.

Quick: A feeling of alertness in you that you are ready to take action immediately. There is a sense of preparedness.

Relaxed: It’s a valuable asset to feel relaxed in this hurried world. Your mind is peaceful and in that particular moment time seems to stand still.

Simple: Do not make life complicating .Be simple and easy without clutter.Allow things to flow smoothly.

Thankful: Be thankful to God that you are alive and kicking. Count your blessings instead of your troubles.

Understanding: It means you are open-minded and you are not stubborn.You are also empathetic.

Valued: Are you being valued as a person? It’s a great feeling to know that you are valued by others.

Wonderful: When you wake up in the morning tell yourself that it is going to be a wonderful day and you look forward to it with positive expectations.

Xmas-spirited: There is a feeling of giving in the true spirit of Christmas. You are thoughtful of your friends and relatives. .

Youthful: When you have a youthful feeling, you are full of vitality and it has nothing to do with your age

Zealous: I have a feeling of abundant energy, and I am ready to start a new day with zest

1. Positive mental attitude: Your attitude decides who and what you are, and whether you respond to events under control or out of control. You cannot hope to control event that comes your way. But you can control the way you react to such events by adopting a positive mental attitude.

2. Total belief in yourself: Have confidence in yourself. Believe in your abilities, for you are who you think you are. You have the necessary skills and abilities to accomplish great things. You need only accept this fact to move ahead with your life.

3. Big, challenging goals: A strong sense of purpose in life is essential to all change and meaningful improvement. With a clear, central purpose comes directions, meaning, and positive expectations. With each step of progress comes a sense of fulfillment. These tips may help us to succeed:
1- Set Goals :  A set of written goals enables us to have a purpose each day to work toward. We may have short term goals to achieve each day as well as long term.  We are all individuals so we all have different goals. Once we  have developed a goal,  we must keep negative thoughts like failure, fear, anger and envy away from our mind.
2- Willingness to Learn  : We must keep our mind open to new ideas. What worked yesterday may not always work today or maybe not the best way today. View our mistakes as opportunities rather than something to avoid at all cost. Willing to learn new things will make our business and life run better.
3- Perseverance and Patience :  Success is often just around the next corner or over the next hill during our race. So often it’s lost on the one yard line. In success we show must patience. We can’t fail if we don’t quit.
4- A Plan : Create a sequence of actions and corresponding time-frame. Take time to do some initial planning, using your daily, monthly, and quarterly goals as a guide. Without a plan, our dreams will remain our dreams, and not a reality.
5- Responsible : When  we fail, we admit it and move on. We should get back up and do it right the next time.  Realize that we learn from every mistake we make, and every obstacle in our path serves to make us stronger and better. You let your actions speak louder than your words. You accept responsibility for your actions and learn from them.
6- Vision  or Ability to See into Future : The ability to look ahead, see the future, imagine the good that can and will come from your hard work will motivate you.
7- Friends  in the line of  Success : Everyone who achieves much success does it with the help of countless others. People become successful because they help other people, and people like them. Associate with people who will encourage . Acknowledge that for every step backward, there is one or more forward steps that bring you closer to your goals.

 There are seven simple laws we can learn and use. These laws will guide us towards the most appropriate actions >
Law #1 - There is never a lack of relationships. Relationships are abundantly available wherever you are: Many live with the idea that love is scarce -there’s not enough to go around and that they must cling to whatever comes their way. This idea can cause them to get involved with the wrong person, or stay in a relationship that is toxic for them. It is crucial to realize that relationships are plentiful. It is never necessary to cling to someone out of fear of being alone.
Law # 2 : Know Who You Are And What You Really Want: Many enter relationships hoping that it will give them a life, or make them feel better about themselves. They may want their partner to take care of them, or give them the approval they’ve been denied. But it is of the utmost importance to know and respect who you are, to enjoy your own company and be aware of your own values and goals. A healthy relationship is an expression of two people, both equally valuable. In this kind of relationship you discover all you have to offer and how to offer it.
Law #3 : Don’t Keep Choosing The Wrong Person For You :Actively choose different places to go and individuals who are different from those you usually meet. Become stronger than the pattern. Turn you life around.
Law #4 : Enjoy Honest Communication: Without the ability to say No, we cannot say Yes. Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not to make another happy. Don’t give up that which is meaningful to you for the sake of a friendship. The key to all happy relationships is mutual respect & acceptance and open & honest communication.  When a person really feels listened to and accepted they feel loved.
Law #5 : Don’t Try To Change Or Fix Other Person : Let everyone be who they are, including you. So many of us are obsessed with changing or fixing everyone. This is not friendship, but manipulation. . Many believe that if the person  is cared enough, they would certainly change for them. This is not so. Find out who the person you are with really is. If someone feels accepted, they can change themselves, if they want to.
Law # 6 : Know Difference Between Real and Fake Love: Feeling happy, high, excited or attached to a person, feeling possessive or dependent is not love. It is infatuation, ego thrills or dependency, usually based upon fantasy. Inevitably, fantasies fade. People then feel that the love is over. It is not over; it’s just been a form of counterfeit love. We must learn the difference between real and counterfeit love, between love and fantasy. Counterfeit love always involves struggle and pain. Real love never does. Real love is a verb. It is not based simply upon feelings, which come and go, but actions. It is important to learn “to-do love”. Do love and you will be loved in return.

1. Lighten up:  Don’t get so serious all the time and break the tension. Create some fun for yourself and your partner.
2. No Arguments: You two may be different in your opinions in areas like politics and religion, avoid those topics. Talk about things you enjoy and have in common.
3. Time For Each Other: Set up specific times when you can get together. It doesn’t matter what you do; shopping,  movie, events. Put it on your calendar and make sure you keep the appointment.
4. Start Over: Remember when you first met? What sparked the relationship? Were you doing new and exciting things together? Well, do it again.
5. Forgive Each Other: Before you forgive your partner, forgive yourself. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone deserves another chance. Get over it and get on with your lives.
6. Touch: Your body loves to be touched. Do it for your partner; play with their hair, rub their hand, a soft kiss, a pat on the leg, back rubs, foot rubs. But do it in an affectionate way, not sexual.

9. Secret Getaway: Plan a trip or a place, where the two of you can be alone. Take your time and enjoy each other. Take it slow and make it romantic.
10. Communicate: A lot of times when relationships are having problems, the talk stops. Here is where you need to learn to listen to each other. Each of you should be able to just talk about anything and everything. Don’t make any judgments. Listen. Let down your guard, no yelling or arguing. Just talk to each other.
